The season of small
scallops.
The fishermen of
Cambados and Rianxo in the arosa bay, who participated the 5
November in the start of the “bou de vara” campaign, showed
their satisfaction with the volume and quality of captures.
The small scallop is
a shell fish which lives on the bays seabed bellow 10 meters
depth. The “bou de vara” is the traditional art used for the
fleet of this fishing villages for the capture of this species.
The fishing boats are of small with two or tree members on
board. Although the season last all winter, the best examples
are found during the first days and this is the reason for our
production is processed before Christmas.
The shellfish in the
picture, was bought at the auction in Rianxo on the 14 November
2007. It was kept alive all night in seawater to clean and was
cooked on the following day with an onion sauce. This
manufactured lot was given number 318 and can be identified by
the inscription number 308 ZOPL L 3180.
